Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-Rich Plasma, also known as "PRP" is an injection treatment whereby a person’s own blood is used. A fraction of blood is drawn up from the individual patient into a syringe and is spun in a special centrifuge to separate its components (Red Blood Cells, Platelet-Rich Plasma, Platelet-Poor Plasma, and Buffy Coat). The PRP is then extracted and is then injected into the desired area in order to improve skin texture, improve thickness, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, increase volume (via the increased production of collagen and elastin), diminish the appearance of scars, and improve crepey skin problems.
Areas typically treated for aesthetic purposes and skin rejuvenation include:
• Crinkling skin around eyes and under the eyes
• Cheeks and midface
• Neck and jawline
• Under eye hallows and/or dark circles
• Chest and décolletage
• Back of hands
